Beckman Coulter Life Sciences Publishes Two Supplemental Protocols for RNA Isolation from Viral Samples

Methods Validated by Third-Party Laboratories in North America and Europe

(Indianapolis, Indiana - May 1, 2020) Beckman Coulter Life Sciences recently published two supplemental protocols1 for RNA isolation from viral samples and has available reagent inventory to ship to customers worldwide.

“The isolation of RNA from viral samples is a critical step for pathogen research,” said Mike Musgnug, vice president and general manager, Beckman Coulter Life Sciences’ Biotechnology Business Unit. “Our development team has worked closely with global research partners to provide customers viral extraction solutions during this time of increased need.”

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences partnered with Warsaw Genomics in Poland and iRepertoire in Huntsville, Alabama to develop methods for the protocols, and then the institutions independently validated the methods. All involved parties were pleased with the results.

“We performed more than 100 RNA extractions and more than 500 qPCR reactions during a three-day period to validate RNAdvance Viral XP,” said Miranda L. Byrne-Steele, Ph.D., Director of Operations and R&D, iRepertoire. “The results clearly demonstrate this new solution from Beckman Coulter Life Sciences a viable [extraction] alternative to help alleviate a critical supply chain shortage.”

The following supplemental protocols utilizing variations of RNAdvance Blood are available for review and download on beckman.com:
